Tokyo's green spaces

Tokyo combines the concept of big city with the of respect for green spaces and nature. The man-made world includes beautiful parks and shrines. You can get out of an overcrowded subway station, walk a reasonable distance and meet the trees and the water.

Let me show you some of the green corners of that incredibly huge agglomeration.

Japan, its plants, gardens and trees

Japan is a great place for those who love nature. Many Japanese are very keen gardeners, including retirees that work as volunteer gardeners.

During my visit to Japan, one of the things that fascinated me was the nature. The natural side of it but also the man-made gardens. I would return to Japan just for the enjoyment of its trees, plants, flowers and water courses.

Japan is a great tourism destination

Japan is an extraordinary country. It's worth every minute a visitor can spend there. And there is plenty to see, enjoy and learn from. For all ages, you can be a younger person or a senior, moving around is not difficult once you got to understand the ways the public transportation system operates.

I am a fan. I was there recently, for about three weeks, and would certainly love to return, and spend more time moving around, enjoying the difference, the people, the arts, the gardens, the mountains, the food, and so on.

The country is again on the headlines as Emperor Akihito has passed the symbols of power to his son, now Emperor Naruhito. The ceremonies were very much in line with the style, the elegance, the rituals, and the culture one can glimpse when visiting the country. They told us a number of lessons. Traditions matter. Culture is paramount. Brevity is wisdom. Elegance is power. Unity is the heart of a nation.
